Okay, it is still going to reach 107 degrees this week but I am so ready for Fall. If I start pulling out our Fall decorations, wearing jeans, and drinking hot Starbucks coffee instead of iced, it will come right? I am pretty sure I read that if you do all of those things and do a little dance and chant “hocus pocus, pumpkin spice,” temperatures will drop. Did it work? Nope? Dang….
Well, it may not feel like Fall but we can make it look like Fall. All underlined words are links that will direct you to the source website.
The best way to approach holiday decor is to take something store bought and add a DIY element so that everything has a touch of cohesiveness. This year I am obsessed with the buffalo check and I think it will be a good staple print that can be used for Fall and Christmas. So, I made buffalo check bows for the wreath and the ‘Welcome’ sign to match the buffalo check rug.
The welcome sign is a 2″x8″ piece of lumber that I stained with Minwax Dark Walnut. I used my Silhouette to cut the vinyl letters for ‘WELCOME.’ I have found some really great ones sold on Etsy for $19.99 plus shipping. Here is the link.
The wreath is from Kirkland’s last year. But as everything else, they have rolled out a newer and better version with velvet pumpkins:
We are huge Arizona State fans so Fall also means football season. I also know that if I slap a football on anything, my husband gets 5 times more excited for whatever I am decorating which is always a win 🙂 Click the image for source.
The football burlap sign is from Hobby Lobby and with their 40%, I spent less than $5 on it. Click the image for source.
After killing 3 seasons of flowers in these pots, I even tried a pinterest painted rock cactus garden but eventually turned to faux flowers. Eventually added an additional basket. Since the white pots started with real flowers, they are filled with soil and make it easy to anchor the faux flowers. The basket, I used a half sphere of flower foam from the dollar store.
Here are the links to essential fall flowers:
Grass – used to add fullness
Hydrangeas – great staple that can be used year long
Of course, you need pumpkins for a true Fall look. Here is the link to the white pumpkins from Michael’s.
The crate is from Ross so there is no direct link. But here is a link to another one that would look beautiful and it has chalkboard sides so you could add a quote or draw a pumpkin.
